I didn’t want to miss the boat, so, since I’ve read a bunch of other blogs about what people will be geared up with this winter, I decided to hop on the train.

Left: Sessions Winkerstripe Jacket and Westbeach Legion Pant
Right: Billabong (?) Jacket and Westbeach Legion Pant
The Sessions Jacket is a really good lightweight jacket with solid waterproofing and breathability, plus the colourway is super sick.
The Billabong Jacket is a little bit heavier and better for colder conditions. I’m a big fan of the styling on the pockets, but it still frustrates me how the hip pockets are angled an unnatural way so you can’t put your hands in them to keep warm.
The Westbeach Pants are new this year, and I’m a huge fan of the cut and the styling accents on the pockets. Plus, it’s a Canadian brand, so you can’t go wrong.

Jed Anderson and Louif Paradis have more than a few things in common. Canadian roots, hesh(ish) style and technical jibbing skills are just a few.
Check them out in the 5 Trick Fix on Transworld Snowboarding.
Chris Bradshaw and Jonas Michilot also make guest appearances…if you’re interested in that business.

I apologize if this seems rushed, but in a last-ditch effort to get something up today, I’m going to post the first thing I happened to stumble upon…
Transworld Snowboarding sat down with Mikey Rencz to talk about his home turf of Whistler, B.C. this past weekend (or some time in the near past).
Mikey has been calling Whistler home for quite a while now, and he’s seen all the changes that have come and gone over the years.
Check out his opinion on the town, the vibe and all the local zones in this interview on Transworld.

This post is a little late, but let me just say I’ve been juggling quite a bit lately. With that out of the way, I managed to make it to the Toronto Ski, Snowboard and Travel Show for a bit this past weekend. So, get ready to read about my life…
I got in to Toronto on Friday evening, and made my way through Union Station to the Exhibition streetcar. Let me just say, I love taking the streetcar on the weekend of the show because you can pick the snowboarders out of a crowd from the other end of the platform.
I got to the show and met up with Lauren, formerly of McMaster Sports, who still works for the shop every year at the show. I spent the first little bit wandering around and checking out the layout before heading to Snowboard Canada’s booth. I was pretty psyched when I got there because the new issue was out along with SBC’s Resort Guide, and (shameless plug) I wrote articles for both magazines.

*taken from a Canadian Snowboard Federation media release
Canada~Snowboard has received a mandate from the International Ski Federation (FIS) to host the greatest number of LG Snowboard FIS World Cup events on the calendar with a total of 11 starts on Canadian soil, in addition to the six snowboard starts of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games at Cypress Mountain. Italy ranks second with eight starts while Spain follows with seven.
In addition, Canada has received the honor of hosting the first ever World Cup Slopestyle event confirming its role as a leader in the international snowboarding community.
This historic event will be held in Calgary, Alberta, fittingly at the birthplace of World Cup snowboarding in Canada. The first ever Canadian stop of the Snowboard FIS World Cup was held in Calgary in February of 1995 with the presentation of Halfpipe, Giant Slalom, Slalom and Parallel Slalom events.

For some inexplicable reason, the onset of summer and the subsequent long work days, patio weather and general enjoyment of the outdoors has resulted in this site not being updated nearly as often as it should be.
FrontLipped is going to take some time to get our shit together, and will be coming back strong at the beginning of September.
In the meantime, check out the archives and grab a copy of the new Snowboard Canada Buyer’s Guide when it hits shelves later this month.

If it’s your job to follow Canada’s best snowboarders around the world all winter, why wouldn’t you bring a video camera along and document the season?
That’s what Nate Laverty did, and, in addition to catching every move made by Simon Chamberlain, Steve Cartwright, Cory Gallon and Mark Sollors, Nate caught some tricks from Charles Reid, Matt Belzile, Jody Wachniak, Joe Sexton, Nash Lajeunesse and a ton of others.
Check out the full twenty-minute video on PUSH.ca
