Montreal, November 13, 2008 – The renowned international snowboarding event, the Shakedown, will soon be going virtual with Shaun White Snowboarding, a new video game by Ubisoft Montreal set to be launched on November 16, 2008. This snowboarding competition held at Mont Saint-Sauveur every year will be displayed in all its grandeur for the world to see, as it entertains armchair sports fans and snowboard amateurs who dare to journey to the section of the game where the event – in its simulated form – takes place (Europe section of the game). Currently recognized by the industry as a competition of international calibre, the Shakedown now has the chance to boost its popularity, thanks to Ubisoft.
“We’re obviously very happy about this partnership between Ubisoft and the Shakedown, especially since the game is about Shaun White, Olympic Gold Medalist and eight-time X Games Gold Medalist. He recognized that it was a perfect fit with our event, an independent competition hosted in Quebec and boasting a one-of-kind format, and that’s why he gave this project two thumbs up. It’s also great to see that a video game produced in Montreal can serve to promote major Quebec events like the Shakedown, a competition of international status hosted right here by people from here,” explained Brendan O’Dowd, co-founder and president of DIZZLE Entertainment Inc.
To recap, we are talking about a world-recognized, made-in-Quebec snowboarding event being promoted in a video game produced in Montreal by Ubisoft and distributed internationally. What could be better! While waiting for the next Shakedown on April 3 and 4, 2009, snowboard fans can get their fill of powder by playing with Shaun White Snowboarding (for new-generation consoles). The experience will be true to life, even featuring real background crowd noises taped by Ubisoft Montreal during the Shakedown last winter. Just a reminder that Ubisoft is one of Shakedown’s partners.
